7 Stops on DART’s Blue Line: The Real Story of Dallas Transit

We spent the day riding 7 stops on DART’s Blue Line, from the quiet suburban terminus in Rowlett all the way into the energy at SMU/Mockingbird. At each stop, we hopped off, walked the area, checked out what you can actually reach on foot, and tried to get a real sense of how these stations serve the neighborhoods around them. Some stops surprised us. Some… didn’t. And a few showed exactly how good transit can be when cities actually build around it.

The big question guiding this ride: what does the Blue Line tell us about transit, walkability, and land use in Dallas? And honestly, the takeaway is simple: the Blue Line works best where the city lets it. When the walkability is there, the experience shines. When it’s missing, you feel it fast.
